Norwegian Signs First Ever U.S. Charter Agreements

Press Release   •   Jul 13, 2016 15:00 EDT

NEW YORK (July 13, 2016) – Norwegian, the World’s Best Low-Cost Long-Haul Airline and Europe’s Best Low-Cost Airline, has signed charter agreements with Apple Vacations and Funjet Vacations for the 2017 winter season. Norwegian will station three Boeing 737-800 aircraft in Milwaukee, Wis. and Chicago, Ill. and operate routes to Mexico and the Caribbean from December 2016 to April 2017. The total value of the two contracts is approximately $14.3M (120M Norwegian Krone), and include more than 600 flights. For Norwegian, entering the American charter tour market is a milestone that will allow the airline to use aircraft effectively during the European low season.

“We are very excited to expand our charter operations to the United States and partner with Apple Vacations and Funjet Vacations," said Thomas Ramdahl, Chief Commercial Officer at Norwegian. "We look forward to having more Americans enjoy the Norwegian experience on their way to what will hopefully be a fantastic holiday.”

Norwegian has offered its own flights from several U.S. East Coast cities to the French Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique since December 2015. The seasonal winter service will resume this autumn.
