-Record-breaking win at the Freddie Awards -
NEW YORK CITY (MAY 1, 2020) – Norwegian Reward, the award-winning loyalty program of Norwegian Air, the World’s Best Low-Cost Long-Haul Airline, has been named Airline Program of the Year Europe & Africa for the fourth consecutive year. The prestigious win was announced at the 2020 Freddie Awards, the Oscars of the aviation industry, with its ceremony held online this year due to COVID-19. In total, Norwegian Reward scored four Freddie Awards, a new record for the loyalty program, while being runner up in the two remaining categories.
Besides Program of the Year, Norwegian Reward also won Best Airline Promotion (for its 2019 Christmas Calendar); Best Airline Customer Service; and Best Loyalty Credit Card. The loyalty program was runner up in the two other remaining categories: Best Airline Redemption and Best Airline Elite Program.
The Freddie Awards are the most prestigious member-generated honor for travel loyalty programs and voted by more than 3.6 million members worldwide who rank the features of airline and hotel loyalty programs to determine the winners.

Norwegian Reward now has more than 10.7 million members worldwide, of which 14% are based in the United States. In 2019, Reward welcomed 400,000 new U.S. members and globally, close to 1.7 million new members joined the program. Norwegian also launched its first co-branded U.S. credit card last fall.
Last year, Norwegian Reward was named Program of the Year Europe & Africa for the third consecutive year, and the Norwegian Reward credit card, by Bank Norwegian, was named Best Loyalty Credit Card, Europe & Africa. In 2018, Norwegian Reward’s holiday campaign, the Christmas Advent Calendar, won Best Promotion, and in 2017, The Norwegian Card, a product of Bank Norwegian, was named Best Affinity Credit Card Europe & Africa at the 2017 Freddie Awards. In 2016, the program also won the Best Up-and-Coming Award and was the runner-up in the Best Airline Program of the Year Europe & Africa category.
The Freddie Awards is named after Sir Freddie Laker, the famed English airline entrepreneur and visionary, who is a Norwegian tailfin hero since July 2017.
Norwegian Reward is free to join and members earn CashPoints, the program’s digital currency, every time they fly, stay at a hotel or rent a car. Redeeming CashPoints is simple and can be used like cash to pay for part or an entire ticket on any flight at any time to any of Norwegian’s destinations.
