NEW YORK CITY (MAY 1, 2020) – Norwegian Reward, the award-winning loyalty program of Norwegian Air, the World’s Best Low-Cost Long-Haul Airline, has been named Airline Program of the Year Europe & Africa for the fourth consecutive year. The prestigious win was announced at the 2020 Freddie Awards, the Oscars of the aviation industry, with its ceremony held online this year due to COVID-19. In total, Norwegian Reward scored four Freddie Awards, a new record for the loyalty program, while being runner up in the two remaining categories.

Besides Program of the Year, Norwegian Reward also won Best Airline Promotion (for its 2019 Christmas Calendar); Best Airline Customer Service; and Best Loyalty Credit Card. The loyalty program was runner up in the two other remaining categories: Best Airline Redemption and Best Airline Elite Program.

The Freddie Awards are the most prestigious member-generated honor for travel loyalty programs and voted by more than 3.6 million members worldwide who rank the features of airline and hotel loyalty programs to determine the winners.

“It is an incredible honor to be named Program of the Year at the Freddie Awards for a fourth consecutive year. Winning more categories than we ever have before is a true testament to our focus to offer a loyalty program designed to give our members true value and a program that is easy to understand and use. With almost 11 million members worldwide, we continue to do our best to earn their loyalty and reward them for it,“ said Brede Huser, EVP Loyalty and Managing Director Norwegian Reward.

“Since making its debut win of the 210 Rising Star Award in 2016, Norwegian Reward has earned overall frequent flyer Program of the Year Award in Europe for four consecutive years, one of the longest streaks ever for this award. This year’s wins were especially impressive and was their best showing yet,” said Randy Petersen, Founder, Freddie Awards.

Norwegian Reward now has more than 10.7 million members worldwide, of which 14% are based in the United States. In 2019, Reward welcomed 400,000 new U.S. members and globally, close to 1.7 million new members joined the program. Norwegian also launched its first co-branded U.S. credit card last fall.

Last year, Norwegian Reward was named Program of the Year Europe & Africa for the third consecutive year, and the Norwegian Reward credit card, by Bank Norwegian, was named Best Loyalty Credit Card, Europe & Africa. In 2018, Norwegian Reward’s holiday campaign, the Christmas Advent Calendar, won Best Promotion, and in 2017, The Norwegian Card, a product of Bank Norwegian, was named Best Affinity Credit Card Europe & Africa at the 2017 Freddie Awards.
