Norwegian Reports Passenger Growth and Higher Load Factor in April
OSLO/FORNEBU (May 9, 2016) – Norwegian reported its traffic results for April 2016. In April, Norwegian carried 2,302,041 passengers, an increase of eight percent as compared to April 2015. The total passenger traffic (RPK) increased by 14 percent and the total capacity (ASK) increased by 11 percent. The load factor for April was 84.5 percent, up 2.1 percentage points. Norwegian operated 99.7 percent of its scheduled flights in April, whereof 84.4 percent departed on time.
The April 2016 traffic figures are a reflection of the increased demand from business and leisure passengers.
“We are very pleased that an increasing number of travelers are choosing Norwegian, especially business travelers. We see growth in the Nordics – and Europe in general – and the high demand for long-haul routes keeps growing,” said Norwegian's CEO, Bjørn Kjos.
Norwegian’s fleet renewal program continues with 21 brand new aircraft entering the fleet in 2016. In April, the airline took delivery of one Boeing 737-800 and one Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner from the factory in Seattle. With an average age of 3.6 years, Norwegian’s fleet is one of Europe’s newest and most environmentally friendly.
