Julie Chen, Fort Lauderdale Cabin Crew Base

Meet Julie Chen

What do you like most about working for Norwegian?

I love the people who I work with at Norwegian. They love their job and very happy of doing it. As a LH cabin crew member, this company has taken me to different parts of the world and given me the chance to work with people from different cultures and backgrounds.

What is your favorite part of your job?

The best part of my job is the interaction between me and all kinds of people.

Why was joining Norwegian's UNCIEF mission to Djibouti important to you?

I had the opportunity to see how people live in Djibouti, what does it take for this UNICF mission to be accomplished and how this mission had impact on peoples' life in Djibouti.

I am a Florida International University graduate student who is studying global affairs, and I have been interested in the ongoing national conflict in Yemen. By examining how this civil war has impacted millions of people who are staying in Yemen, the outbreak and the spreading disease of cholera, and the refugees who are displaced to other parts of the world. I want to deepen of my understanding of a national conflict in a global world context, as well as possible solutions to the conflict. Some solution might include making plans for misplaced refugees, the delivery method and usage of humanitarian aid, and how this aid can ease current tensions for those civilians suffering in this conflict.

You have a 24-hour layover. What city tops your list?

Barcelona.

Best memory during a Norwegian flight?

The UNICEF flight To Djibouti was the best memory. It was filled with love and compassion of everyone who were on board.

What do you during your days off?

I read, sleep and plan for my next adventure!

Favorite holiday traditions?

My favorite holiday tradition is Chinese New Year. It is the time of my family gathering, eating dumplings and watch the traditional lion dance as New Year celebration.
